CommuniHeat Update, and Key Dates for your Diary!

As I write this piece, the UK is slowly emerging from lockdown. We’re delighted that during this most challenging of times, we’ve been able to keep on track with our mission for our village to reach net zero emissions. Over the last five months we’ve been visiting homes, undertaking heat surveys and getting a great understanding of the village and how we as a community could transition to Net Zero. I’d just like to say how grateful we are to the brilliant residents of Barcombe for all the support and enthusiasm.

So what’s next? Well, you might have seen our stall at the roundabout on 10th April. If you stopped to chat about CommuniHeat, thank you, and we hope you found it enlightening! We’ve arranged some more events, which you can read about below.

But before we get to that – we still need residents to sign up for energy surveys. Just as a reminder, you’ll receive a free, detailed report on your home’s energy performance. You’ll get vouchers to spend at Barcombe businesses, and be entered into a prize draw to win a night at the Secret Campsite!

Upcoming Events:

Our next webinars will be at 6.30pm and 8pm on Thursday 13th May. Join us to hear how the project is progressing, and to have any questions answered. And on Friday 25th June we’re holding a “Community Energy Day.” It’s intended that this will be….(drum roll….) an ACTUAL LIVE EVENT! At the ACTUAL Village Hall! It’s a great opportunity for you to find out more about any aspect of the project and meet local experts on home and community energy. You can learn how community energy works, view the beginnings of our data modelling exercise, learn how electrification could impact the energy grid, and find out more about ways of financing the transition, latest developments in green technology, or anything else that particularly interests you. We very much look forward to seeing you there…IN PERSON!
